SAP S/4HANA Migration: A Practical Checklist for Indian Enterprises

Published on June 14, 2026 | By

Migrating to SAP S/4HANA is one of the highest-stakes projects an enterprise will undertake. The difference between a smooth cutover and months of firefighting usually comes down to preparation, not the migration itself.

1. Assess readiness before you commit

Run the SAP Readiness Check, inventory your custom ABAP, and flag every integration touchpoint. The goal is to surface surprises while they are still cheap to fix.

2. Clean your data first

Garbage in, garbage out. Archive obsolete records and reconcile master data before extraction — a smaller, cleaner dataset migrates faster and validates more easily.

3. Plan a zero-downtime cutover

With the right sequencing and a parallel staging landscape, most mid-sized migrations can complete over a single weekend window. Rehearse the cutover at least twice.
